My chance to wonder about hand made things and tell the world about those I make, love and cherish!

Gifts from Tokyo (part 2)

Sashiko. A cushion sized piece of  hand sewn sashiko.

The patterns change as the stitching moves over the piece.

This is probably my favourite piece sewn on the softest cotton.

A table centre with spring motifs.

Screen printed. I like the simplicity of the spring motifs and the intensity of the blue.

Here you can see how the motifs are arranged.

A belt, maybe an Obi .
( traditional dressing in Japan has strict  rules for garments of which I know very little so this may not be an obi.)

One side is woven designs of peonies and festival drums.

The other side is a glorious print.
