My chance to wonder about hand made things and tell the world about those I make, love and cherish!

My latest favourite things!

Had a really good visit to the junk shop at the weekend. Its called an antique centre but that definitly puts it above where it should be! Its just a lot of units where people can sell off vintage/retro items Occasionally they are antiques. I went for small drawer knobs which are to be feet on my next story box but having an hour to myself without children I wandered round for a bit.
I think I squealed out loud when I found this box of watch faces.

I don't know where I will use them yet, maybe brooches or in a story box. Lots of stories feature time and this would be a good way to represent it.

My next purchase was this.

Its a hand quilted quilt. I studied it for a while in the shop and decided it was hand made. Its huge and easily covers a double bed. There are patches of darning on it and the ends have been re sewn. I have no idea how old it is. It is so beautiful. I didn't dither for long as to whether to buy it or not as it will make a lovely throw over the sofa. Obviously wont do that if it is old! The detail on it is wonderful and is an incredible pattern.
....and the cost of the quilt? £18 yes thats right eighteen pounds. How could you not give something that someone has spent hours and hours on for £18.

Stunning quilt - some of these treasures are so well made, its hard to decide if they're hand made or not isn't it?
